Five Twenty-Nine Twelve

Have you ever made a gift for someone that was totally unappreciated? This was one of those gifts. Macey was in preschool this year. She had a teacher (who had a googly eye, btw) and two assistants. Towards the end of the school year I noticed that one of the assistants was starting to get a bit of a belly. Either she was eating too many gummy bears (no, no, that is me), or she was expecting. I discreetly asked Mrs. Googly Eye if she was indeed expecting a little bambino (you never want to assume), and was told that yes! she was expecting a little girl. So I quickly got to work making this sweet little baby blanket. I love the way it turned out.

The Specs:

36 inches x 42 inches
Violet Craft: Peacock Lane Parade Day Front
Violet Craft: Peacock Lane Meadow Backing
Gray polka dot binding
Simple diagonal quilting
Several rows of hand quilting using Perle cotton thread

The funniest part was that she didn’t even really like it. She apparently had to ask her mom what it was (hello? have you never seen a blanket before???). Oh well. I loved it and with any luck, she’ll donate it to the local thrift store and I can buy it back. Ha ha!
